Magadan Region produces 20-yr record of 37 tonnes of gold in 2018
MAGADAN, Jan 16 (PRIME) -- Companies located in Russia’s Magadan Region produced 36.8 tonnes of gold in 2018, a record for the past 20 years as the Natalka field of gold producer Polyus reached its projected capacity, the region’s government said in a statement on Wednesday.
Lode gold output in the region amounted to 18.9 tonnes, and alluvial gold production exceeded 17.8 tonnes last year.
Silver production stood at 696.4 tonnes, the statement read.
In 2019, Susumanzoloto is to launch production at a new gold field Shturmovskoye. The plant’s first stage will produce 200,000 tonnes of processed ore per year. The region forecasts gold production at 40 tonnes in 2019.
